Famine can expose the structural inequalities that place undue stress upon marginalized persons resulting in morbid tendencies. Faith grants believers the grace to resist the dark temptation of quitting on the life-giving practices when hardships seem unbearable. By remaining faithful, God will grant us the discernment to recognize the nearness of His presence in our own experience.
