Where the Money Reside? – St. Matthew 6:19-24
The condition of our heart is far too important to ignore what our treasures might reveal. Christ shares what is necessary for us to achieve God’s expectation by following him to fulfill all righteousness. Recognizing that what we treasure will affect our heart, focus our heart, and surrender our heart is a humbling reality as we surrender to the vocation of being God’s living representatives in the world.
Point #1: Our treasure affects our heart. Verse 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Point #2: Our treasure focuses our heart. Verse 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,
Point #3: Our treasure surrenders our heart. Verse 6:24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
