St. Luke 5:33-39 (NRSV)
An old wineskin can teach us how our relationship with ideas, images, and information can change over time. While an old wineskin cannot be used to hold new wine lest it be destroyed, it does contain the wise memories of a new wineskin mentality that was challenged to stretch its boundaries. An old wineskin may not be used in the same way but it still serves an honorable role to encourage our new wineskins when they are being stretched by new wine beyond old thinking patterns, pushed to make new connections, and extended to reach for fresh perspectives.
