Here is how we want you to prepare for this special Sunday at home.
At church, we use Welch’s Grape Juice and a communion wafer. But since you’re preparing Holy Communion at home, you have a few options!
- grape juice, cranberry juice, or water
- make your own communion bread using the recipe below or you can use crackers, matza (buy on Amazon), or bread
Communion Bread Recipe
Recipe By: LEAB77 on Allrecipe.com – “This recipe has been used for years in our church for Communion bread. Easy to make and stores well in fridge. Watch carefully when baking, ovens vary in time needed.”
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix flour, oil, and salt together in a bowl; add water and mix using a pastry cutter until dough is soft. Form dough into 6 balls and press into disks onto the prepared baking sheet using your hands.
- Bake in the preheated oven until bread is cooked, 8 to 10 minutes.
On Sunday morning, have your Holy Communion elements placed nicely on a table or your counter. Make the moment sacred by taking your time and moving reverently with the items you have designated as symbols of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We will partake of Holy Communion together during online worship on Sunday at 11am on Facebook Live, conference call, or you can watch via the replay on our YouTube channel.
Be ready to experience the miracle and the mystery of Christ’s presence in Holy Communion!
