Prophetic Confessions from Exodus 2:11-22
Developing godly character teaches us how to discern God’s way and to surrender our will to God’s divine perspective. This authorizes us to see things we might overlook, to resist the evil of imitating oppressors, and to submit to the process that God uses to expand our outlook. This positions us to obtain the supernatural help we need to become partners in God’s story of redemption.
Point #1: Growth allows us to see things that we previously overlooked and cannot continue to ignore. Verse 2:11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and saw their forced labor.
Prophetic Confession #1: Eternal Father, thank you for maturing our hearts to see the suffering of others and respond with compassion.
Point #2: Nothing new can be accomplished by imitating the dysfunctional behavior of an oppressor no matter how sincere our efforts. Verse 2:14 He answered, “Who made you a ruler and judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “Surely the thing is known.”
Prophetic Confession #2: All Sufficient One, we declare that we are imitators of Christ who gave his life even when he had the power to take life.
Point #3: Adjustments to our position can be a necessary vehicle of change in our perspective to expand our outlook. Verse 2:22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom; for he said, “I have been an alien residing in a foreign land.”
Prophetic Confession #3: Almighty Advocate, thank you for your guidance into positions that forever change how we see with divine perspective.
