Keep Your Priorities Straight – Jan. 13

Scripture to Memorize

But thou, O man of God, flee these things: and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

I Timothy 6:11

Lesson Overview

This week’s lesson addresses key themes of immense practicality to believers. First, it stresses that Christians should respect and cooperate with those who hold positions of authority. Second, the lesson emphasizes that false teachers often use religion to become rich; at the same time, they oppose God’s revealed truth. Third, riches are easily lost and thus very undependable; likewise, the love of money is the source of all kinds of evil desires and actions. Fourth, and finally, we who have trusted in Christ should make our new life in Him a constant reality in our daily experiences.

Life Awareness

Many of us struggle to make ends meet, and we wonder whether we will have the same job six months from now. All of us desire to be loved and appreciated by others, and to be joyous and fulfilled in our lives. This week’s lesson teaches that these desires and concerns cannot be answered through the world’s way of thinking and acting. We must look to Christ for true meaning and satisfaction. We will discover that when we keep our priorities straight, our lives will have eternal significance and relevance.
