Labor Day 2024: A Prayer for SFUSD

We pray you are having a safe and restful Labor Day. As we spend time with family, taking a break from regular work and school, we are mindful that today we would normally be preparing our hearts for evening prayer. In recognition of Labor Day, instead of in-person prayer or our prayer call, we are asking the congregation to pray for the SFUSD and the school communities in the city that may be impacted by closures or mergers.

Please join us as we focus on these prayer points:

Management of resources by the district and schools

Proper Spirit filled leaders at the SFUSD

The school communities that will be impacted

The effects on the communities impacted

The effect it will have on the city

That families receive resources to adjust

The students’ hearts and minds as the changes may cause shifts in how they navigate and manage

That God directs the prayers of individuals in these school communities even as they pray

Teacher and staff who may be affected

That decision makers maintain care and empathy

That God give them creative solutions to challenges
