Scripture to Memorize
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.
I Timothy 1:5
Lesson Overview
Timothy had worked with Paul for a number of years in the proclamation of the Gospel. Both of them were at Ephesus, the capital of the Roman province of Asia on the west coast of Asia Minor, when Paul decided to travel to Macedonia, a senatorial province of Rome that included much of northwestern Greece. Timothy remained at Ephesus to pastor the church there and to counteract the presence of false teachers. Paul wanted to encourage Timothy and help him tackle the problems he faced. As we study the apostle’s counsel to his dear child in the faith, we will discover the importance of believing and obeying God’s Word.
Live Awareness
Many people think their are no moral absolutes. They believe that people can do whatever they want as long as it does not hamper the rights of others. In this week’s lesson we will learn that our thoughts and actions matter to the Lord and that He will one day evaluate all that is said and done according to the absolute moral standards of the Bible. We will also discover that God wants us to receive the Gospel, support it, live by it, and share it.
