Our lesson this week tells us Jesus took John, Peter and James with him to the Garden of Gethsemane, praying to God to take the cup from Him.
Our lesson reminds us while God’s redemptive plan of salvation to save the world and bring all mankind to Himself began with Israel, it certainly did not end with Israel. His desire was to give His Son for the whole world, both Jews and Gentiles.
Instead of beginning the letter with a thanksgiving which he does in other letters, Paul begins with a blessing that calls on God.
