Sermon Title: Experiencing the Father’s Embrace
Sermon Scripture: Acts 16:1-5
Point #1: A father’s embrace makes our faith more faithful and fruitful.
Point #2: A father’s embrace teaches us to honor the parts of our life that society might condition us to deny.
Point #3: A father’s embrace enables us to authentically embrace others.
The church flourishes most when we embrace the full existence of others in a way that facilitates our own conversion and transformation. Paul’s fatherly embrace of Timothy’s humanity demonstrates to his spiritual son that every part of his person is worthy of God’s attention; this makes his faith more faithful and fruitful, teaches him to honor the parts of his life that society might have conditioned him to deny, and enables us to authentically embrace one another.
