1 John 2:12-14 (NRSV)
Forgiveness isn’t natural but a supernatural outpouring of love given to every believer. When we choose to exercise forgiveness; we immerse ourselves into God’s story of redemption, we show that we belong to God, and we grow closer to God as we forgive like our Father.
Point #1: The bible tells the redemptive story of God’s forgiveness. Verse 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name.
Point #2: Forgiveness is made possible because of the abundant love of Christ. Verse 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name.
Point #3: Forgiveness is how we come to know our Father. Verse 2:14 I write to you, children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young people, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
