Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the customizr domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Forgiveness First

Pastor Tyrone S. Hillman, Jr.

1 John 2:12-14 (NRSV)

Forgiveness isn’t natural but a supernatural outpouring of love given to every believer. When we choose to exercise forgiveness; we immerse ourselves into God’s story of redemption, we show that we belong to God, and we grow closer to God as we forgive like our Father.

Point #1: The bible tells the redemptive story of God’s forgiveness. Verse 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name.

Point #2: Forgiveness is made possible because of the abundant love of Christ. Verse 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name.

Point #3: Forgiveness is how we come to know our Father. Verse 2:14 I write to you, children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young people, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

Journaling Questions:

What does this text teach us about forgiveness? What can we do when forgiveness seems difficult? How does forgiveness draw us closer to God?
