It’s Not Mine – Genesis 14:17-15:1
God is the source of our blessing rather than our inherent ability and the ancient practice of tithing conditions us to remember this important truth. Our blessedness is not dependent upon the losses of another but upon a relationship with God. This encourages to us share what we have and allows the LORD to access us in our experience.
Point #1: The tithe isn’t mine. Verse 14:20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him one-tenth of everything.
Point #2: Everything in my possession isn’t mine. Verse 14:24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their share.”
Point #3: Fear isn’t mine. Verse 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”
