Sermon Title: The Way Down
Scripture: Isaiah 55:6-11
The way down is a testing ground for spiritual development where the familiar is taken away from us. As a result, our conventional manner of coping is disrupted and we emerge from our struggle with meaningful depth. The way down is a call to seek the Lord fervently, a cry to forsake our own way by accepting God’s offer, and a command to depend on God a different future. The way down is God’s way out for us.
Point #1: The way down is a call to seek the Lord. Verse 55:6 Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near;
Point #2: The way down is a cry to forsake our way. Verse 55:7 let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Point #3: The way down is a command to depend on God. Verse 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
