Lesson Overview
False teachers were seeking positions of leadership in the church at Ephesus. In order for believers to select the right people for the offices of pastor and deacon, they needed to know what personal qualities they should look for. In this week’s lesson, Paul discussed the type of Christians who would be the best candidates for leadership. He also wrote about the mission and message of the church.
Live Awareness
Consider how horrible it would be if parents refused to care for their children. In the spiritual family, we cannot grow and mature if our leaders neglect to feed and lead us. If we want our congregation to thrive and minister effectively, we need to have quality leaders. This week we will see that those who serve as pastors and deacons must be men of integrity who love the Lord and strive to minister to the needs of others.
