The Lamb Worthy of Worship

Overview by Olivia Saunders

Lesson Text: Revelation 5: 6-14

We as children of God, are no strangers when it comes to the worship of our God. All of creation has been beckoned to worship the one who created us. This lesson dives in deep with the way worship looks like in heaven. Can you just imagine for a moment as in  verse 6, looking upon the One who died for us with blood all over Him ?  What an awestruck moment, but also with great joy knowing that the victory is won and that one can join in with all of heaven to worship and adore our Savior.

In verse 8, we are reminded that our prayers are not in vain. We see that the 24 elders and the four living beings fell down before Him. How amazing is it that we are shown one of the postures of worship to our Father, is to bow down before him, giving all glory and honor. Another way that the Lamb was worshipped was through song in verse 9. As we worship our God, we are to know that we are never alone and are on one accord in heaven and on earth.

When we read the scripture, “ every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God “ ( Romans 14:11) we see the reference in verse 13. There’s a song that says “Here as it is in heaven” ,refers to  being present in the place that He built for us, to join in with all of heaven. In verse 11, the  innumerable angels are singing continuously in a mighty chorus to the King, simply because He is worthy and He has redeemed his people. This lesson has given us examples, instruction  of how to worship our Savior. As we wait for that great day, when  we meet Jesus,  let us forever worship Him.!!

Related Scriptures: John 1:29-34; Revelation 20:1-6

In John 1:29-34, John the Baptist sees Jesus coming toward him and declares, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! He is greater than I because He existed before I was born.” John was unaware of who the Messiah would be until he baptized Him. John said, “I did not know Him, but He who sent Me to baptize with water said to me, Upon whom you see the Spirit  descending (like a dove), and remaining on Him this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

In Revelation 20:1-6,  John saw the vision of an angel coming down from heaven with “the key and the chain”. He bound and cast Satan into the bottomless pit for a thousand years that he should not deceive the nations no more but afterwards he must be released for a while. Then John saw classes of “resurrected saints” rejoicing with Christ, all the redeemed, the souls of martyrs and those who had not worshipped the beast, this is the first resurrection to eternal life (John 5:29). The rest of the dead ( the unsaved) did not live again until the thousand years were finished, this is the second resurrection unto condemnation (John 5:29).   The second death ( the lake of fire) has no power over the resurrected saints, but they shall be “blessed and holy” priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Practical Points by Janice Hall

3) The blood of Jesus has the power to save people of every nation.
6) Jesus is worthy of eternal praise.

There is tremendous power in the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross. There is victory in the blood of Jesus, to be completely whole and receive everything that Jesus paid for us to have through the blood. The power of the blood of Jesus redeems us, brings us into fellowship with God and the blood cleanses and gives us power over the enemy. We gain bold access to God in prayer and worship and receive the forgiveness of our sins. The blood of Jesus Christ has the power to save, heal and deliver; power to bring freedom and hope and power to transform lives and destinies.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise and His greatness is beyond our understanding. We bless the Lord when we praise Him and He always deserves and merits the highest honor, admiration, reverence that we can give to Him. Praise is so powerful;  it is a tool, weapon, attitude adjuster, and atmosphere changer. When we praise the Lord, we affirm His goodness and shows our faith in Him. The Lord is worthy of praise because of His Holiness, faithfulness, sovereignty, mercy, grace, justice, righteousness, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.!!!
